2001-12-17 ~@~ 11:30 a.m.

It is Monday, and I have been at work since 9:00. And all I have done is play on the internet. So much for self disicipline today. Out the window it goes!

The weekend was a whirlwind of meeting, greeting, and holiday cheer. Lovely, but exausting.

I didn't tell you that our dining room table broke IN HALF last week, did I? Ugh. Thursday after work D. and I did a big 'ole Sam's shopping extravaganza for the Christmas shindig this weekend. Yes- Christamas party at our house, co-sponsered (meaning, splitting the funds, yay!) by our dear friends D and J. We bought more goodies than you can imagine: mini-quiches, ingrediants for artichoke dip, lots of beer and wine. I got home late, arms aching from carrying said beer and wine back and forth between store to car to other car to inside. Perfect timing for attempting to put the two leaves in the old ritchty (oh, sue me, spelling aces!) table, only to have it crash to the floor, narrowly missing The Outlaw, and stripping the screws out of the table hinges. Just perfect. No table, and major party a day away.

Friday afternoon Hubby and I went downtown (and left work early too!), to search for a new/ old table. We found a steal at a funky store downtown; minty, stripped green, square. He and J. hauled it home, while I (ah-hum) got whitish-blond highlights in my hair at the poshy salon downtown. It took three hours, and came complete with a glass of wine, and a fabulous neck and head massage. Ooh la la! The highlights are whiter than I thought, but I dig them in that punkish, Debbie Harry kinda way. Fun for the blah winter mousey brown locks.

The party saturday was great. It was our first holiday fiesta, so we had admittedly gone all out. Got the tree, garland, stockings. Lots of homemade yummy food, (the amazing Martin even chipped in some de-lish treats) candles, and the wine was a-flowin'. The boys even brought out the guitars after awhile. Reminiscent of my wedding, I was busy being the hostess, and failed to eat enough chips and things to balance the wine. Alas, the headache the next morning was not all pleasant, but hell, if the party wasn't a blast. Everyone was having fun, being flirty, and looking saucy.

I love that flirty party feeling, when you feel good, and everyone is doing a good job of mingling, and laughing in long, head tossed back strings of laughter.

(Interested parties: I wore this wine colored sleeveless sweater, knee length tan courdoroy straight skirt, black fishnets and knee high boots...oh, and the new highlights! I felt sauce-o-rama. Working it.)

Recovering Sunday with the cute little sister, and a heaping helping of blueberry pancakes. Afternoon nap, and then off to Hubby's work Christmas party. Much stuffier and everyone talked about their college-age children. I inserted some racy stories, and lied about my making the homemade salsa. ("Oh, it's my sister's recipe. it's not hard at all!") Martin had made it for our party. It's all about recycling the food. And the dozens of bottles of wine that people brought.

If you all venture up this way, we could have a wild, wine tasting party!

And that brings us to work. Monday. Rainy.

It's a snuggle up in bed with a good book day. A hot bath day. A lazy love making day. Ahhhhhh.

A Taco Bell day. Yes again, dammit. See you after lunch.
